Prof Boyoung Joung is a professor of cardiology, a director of Yonsei heart rhythm center and vice president of Yonsei University Severance Hospital. Prof. Joung is a principal investigator of the Korean multicenter AF registry (CODE-AF), and many clinical trials funded by the Korean health ministry including ALONE-AF, SINGLE-AF trials, and the chairperson of the Korean AF guidelines (2018 and 2021) and NOAC guidelines (2018, 2022). He was the vice president of the Korean Heart Rhythm Society. Prof Joung has published over 500 peer-reviewed articles, including JAMA, BMJ, Annals of Internal Medicine, European Heart Journal, Circulation and J Am Coll Card.

He is working for the improvement in patient care within four principal areas: (i) generating new evidence of arrhythmia treatment and guidelines; (ii) use of artificial intelligence in AF management; (iii) the stroke and dementia prevention of AF; and (iii) biodrug development for arrhythmia treatment.
