Sei Iwai, MD, FACC, FHRS is Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. He is Section Chief of Cardiac Electrophysiology of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network and Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at Westchester Medical Center. Over the past 24 years, Sei has been a full-time faculty member, first at New York Presbyterian Hospital—Weill Cornell Medical Center, then at Stony Brook University Medical Center, and currently at Westchester Medical Center.
Dr. Iwai has extensive experience in catheter ablation of complex arrhythmias. In addition, he performs implantations of pacemakers, ICDs, and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, as well as laser lead extractions and left atrial appendage occlusion device implants. He has been recognized in New York Magazine Top Doctors issues and by Castle Connolly as one of “America’s Top Doctors” for more than ten years.
He has lectured throughout the United States as well as in Europe on various topics related to cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Iwai has published 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and review articles. He serves as an Editorial Consultant for JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology, and also serves as ad hoc reviewer for publications such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm, Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology, the American Journal of Cardiology, PACE, and Journal of Atrial Fibrillation. He has served on the ABIM/ACC Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology CMP Standard Setting Committee, and on the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Milestones Working Group.
Dr. Iwai received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College before getting his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, followed by fellowships in both Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology at New York Hospital—Cornell.
